My name is Barry Desautels. I’ve been a small business owner for many years, and recently launched a new chapter in life as a student trader. The S&P 500 E-mini is providing some exciting possibilities and I’m enjoying the learning experience very much.
Trading futures is a business and as such requires an honest effort, continuous learning, and an understanding of how the business end needs to operate in order to be successful.
One of the best parts for me is the choices I create for myself. Of course at the beginning the hours are long due to the steep learning curve. However, as the milestones are reached, the start-up challenges become history, and one is free to plan the future.
This is also my first experience with web publishing. It has been and is still a major challenge despite the massive amount of online training and support that is available. It wasn’t that many years ago that a telephone and telex machine were the main communication tools in our office. I still remember the first IBM Selectric typewriter we bought that replaced an old Underwood manual machine. Times have changed!
Creating a strong foundation of new knowledge and experience is fun, and the little victories are very rewarding. Learning is life-long, and provided one never quits and puts the learning to good use, the freedom of choice is present everyday.
